After 25 years in the Northwest Suburban Conference, Maple Grove’s athletic teams moved into the Lake Conference this fall. The Crimson girls volleyball team went 7-0 in Lake Conference matches to win the conference title.
Other Crimson teams had some success in the powerful Lake, but generally didn’t place quite as high as they’d been accustomed to in the Northwest Suburban.
In football, teams are divided into subdistricts rather than playing in the conferences that other sports compete in.
It is worth noting though that Maple Grove moved into the Metro West Subdistrict this fall with several Lake schools and did beat Minnetonka, Edina, Eden Prairie and Wayzata on the way to an unbeaten regular season.
