MISSOULA, Mont. – The Montana High School State Cross Country Championships kicked off with thrilling performances at the UM Golf Course.

In Class AA, Bozeman’s Ada Thiel claimed the girls’ individual title with a time of 18:21.89. Miles Halvorsen, also from Bozeman, took the boys’ title with a time of 15:34.51. Bozeman swept the team titles, with the boys scoring 41 points and the girls 49.

Class A saw Billings Central Catholic’s freshman Addison Kegel break the girls’ record with a time of 17:48.81. Park High’s Finn Schretenthaler won the boys’ race with a time of 15:29.66, marking his third consecutive state title. Hardin Bulldogs topped the team standings, with the girls scoring 93 to claim their fourth consecutive title and the boys 64 for their second straight title after last season winning their first championship since 1993.

In Class B, Broadwater’s Kyla Meissner finished first in the girls’ race with a time of 19:31.99, while Plains’ John Jermyn led the boys with 16:02.41. Jefferson girls and Harlem boys took the team titles with scores of 66 and 53, respectively.

Class C wrapped up with Granite’s Addi Lilyquist winning the girls’ race in 20:13.96. Drummond’s Dawson Parke led the boys with 16:57.35. Drummond girls and Cascade boys secured team victories with scores of 15 and 18.

The 2025 cross country championships concluded with impressive performances and new records.
