HORRY COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — The Horry County Sheriff’s Office held its fourth annual “Faith and Blue” event, bringing together officers from 10 local agencies for a day of prayer and support at Palmetto Point Church.
Officers from North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Surfside and Myrtle Beach gathered as prayers echoed through the church, offering comfort and encouragement.

Chaplain Eddie Hill of the sheriff’s office described the event as “like building a bridge between the faith community and law enforcement,” providing support whether facing crime, natural disasters, or the daily grind of shift work.
“It’s emotional. It’s encouraging. It’s challenging you when you get groups of people together,” Hill said.
“Listen, especially church people, man. You get church people together, and they want to pray, and they want to shout. And for the law enforcement, they get to soak that encouragement up.”

The “Faith and Blue” initiative, which began in 2020, is a nationwide effort to strengthen ties between police and the community, with this weekend marking a significant push for events across the country.
As the Chaplain notes, law enforcement and public safety personnel will take “all the hope and encouragement we can give them.”
