Gov’t Mule got Back in the Saddle on Saturday at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC, with a series of bust-outs and an onstage collaboration with “I’ll Be” singer Edwin McCain. The performance was part of the Mighty Giveback event, a fundraiser hosted by Band Together to support local nonprofits, with a special focus on mental health initiatives in the community.

Young Gun Silver Fox kicked things off on the indoor stage, followed by a full set from McCain on the outdoor stage. Gov’t Mule then headlined the event, playing two sets on the outdoor stage. Between sets, Band Together presented a check with all the funds raised for local mental healthcare nonprofits, totaling an impressive $1,041,430.

In addition to fan favorites like The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Mountain Jam”, “Sco-Mule”, and “Soulshine”, Mule offered several rare selections, including Bob Marley‘s “Lively Up Yourself”, Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s “Effigy” (played for the first time in 83 shows with a detour through Johnny Cash‘s “Folsom Prison Blues”), Bob Dylan‘s “I Shall Be Released” (played for the first time in 86 shows), which featured powerful lead vocals from McCain, and Elmore James‘ “I Can’t Hold Out” (played for the first time in 137 shows).
