As affordable housing in Los Angeles County remains a persistent need for many residents, Ecumenical Association for Housing has acted with the acquisition of two rental properties in Lancaster.

Terms of the two new sales, which closed in September, were not disclosed. With these acquisitions, EAH is preserving 82 affordable homes for low-income families and individuals in the Antelope Valley. The acquisitions, Arbor Lofts and Sagebrush I & II, provide affordable rental housing for households earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income (AMI).

Founded in 1968, EAH is a nonprofit that provides housing assistance to low-income families and older adults. EAH Housing is one of the largest nonprofit housing organizations in the U.S., managing more 43 properties representing about 2,500 units. They have developed seven properties from the ground up in the L.A. County region.

“At EAH Housing, we see ourselves as long-term stewards of affordable communities,” said Laura Hall, president and chief executive officer of EAH Housing. “Arbor Lofts and Sagebrush reflect our deep commitment to vibrant neighborhoods where residents can thrive for generations, supported by well-designed housing and essential services.”

Driven by the commitment to long-term affordability and sustainability, the acquisitions were a good opportunity to grow EAH’s footprint and portfolio in the Los Angeles area – already experienced in property management in the city of Lancaster, said Hall. These relatively young properties are in good physical shape, thus EAH will continue offering high-quality housing options for low-to-moderate income residents, she said.

Located at 661 W. Lancaster Blvd., Arbor Lofts is a 21-unit low-rise community built in 2009 with spacious four-bedroom apartments and modern amenities including central air, private balconies and controlled building access. The property also features 3,800 square feet of commercial space.

Sagebrush I & II, built in 2011, offers 61 three- and four-bedroom apartments across five buildings, including townhome-style layouts. Amenities include a community lounge, courtyard, and secure building entry. Located on 715 W. Milling St., Sagebrush is within walking distance of retail, transit and cultural resources in downtown Lancaster.

“We appreciate the diversity of the unit type, the fact that it serves large families, and that we can provide high quality property/asset management and resident services,” said Katherine Fleming, chief portfolio officer at EAH. “Stewardship is a key part of EAH’s overall strategic plan as an affordable housing nonprofit that has developed and owned properties throughout California and the state of Hawaii.”
