One of the longest-running daytime talk shows in America is at risk of being cancelled.

At issue is the ongoing criticism the hosts of The View have been levelling at Donald Trump. It’s not the first time an ABC program has been under threat of ending because of someone’s controversial opinion. Jimmy Kimmel was previously suspended and his talk show briefly put on hiatus for his comments following the Charlie Kirk shooting. Jimmy Kimmel Live! has since returned to the network’s late-night lineup.

Speaking your mind is what’s made The View such a hit for decades. That may have to change if they are to remain on the air. ABC is reportedly telling its co-hosts to scale back the US President bashings. “They know the writing is on the wall,” one network insider revealed to RadarOnline. They go on to say that “ABC doesn’t want – or need – another political controversy.”

This news comes after Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr recently targeted the show. He said the program may no longer be protected by its equal opportunity broadcast rules.

The threat of cancellation doesn’t seem to have co-host Whoopi Goldberg worried. She’s got numerous awards and money and isn’t concerned about this threat. Whoopi spoke out last month over Jimmy’s suspension, assuring fans “no one silences us.” It’s a different story when it comes to Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and Sarah Haines, however. Should this show be cancelled, it could mark the end of their careers in this industry. “Sunny, in particular, is panicked,” a source revealed.

The View is currently in its 29th season on television, capturing countless Daytime Emmy Awards over that span.
