KXLG, Watertown, SD The Watertown Area Community Foundation Women and Giving program will be making a significant difference to 14 local non-profits in helping them overcome barriers and reach their goal. This year the program will be granting $46,090 to these agencies which touch all corners of the community. During this year’s fundraising campaign, just over 91 thousand dollars was raised, with $68, 545 gifted for immediate granting and scholarships and another $22, 510 invested into the Women and Giving endowment fund, to help ensure that support for women and children will continue into the future.

Our Little Village Learning Center will receive funds for staff training and development, and Rachel’s Hope will receive funds to purchase hygiene essentials for women and children in crisis. Five other local nonprofits will also receive funds…

Mengwasser says that the foundation’s advisory committee deserves thanks for the amount of work they’ve dedicated to choosing this year’s grant recipients…

The Foundation’s Women & Giving program also awards scholarships to non-traditional, female students attending Lake Area Technical College and Mount Marty University. Applications for those are due October 28. Women & Giving scholarships totaling up to $30,000 will be awarded in November.
