The Emmys, Academy Awards, Grammys, and Tony Awards are the biggest awards shows in entertainment. But, so many celebrities and entertainers are only one award away from an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), and you’ll be surprised who’s still so close after all these years.
1.Adele only needs to win a Tony.

The singer has won 16 Grammy Awards, and she earned an Oscar for the song “Skyfall” from the 2012 James Bond movie of the same name. In 2022, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special for her CBS concert special Adele: One Night Only.
2.Hugh Jackman only needs to win an Oscar.

The actor and singer won a Tony in 2004 for The Boy From Oz, and was honored with a Special Tony Award in 2012. At the 58th Tony Awards in 2005, he won an Emmy for his performance on the awards show. In 2019, he won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Media for The Greatest Showman.
3.Eminem only needs to win a Tony.

The rapper has a total of 15 Grammys. He also won an Oscar for the song “Lose Yourself” in 2002’s 8 Mile. He won an Emmy for being a part of the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
4.Cynthia Erivo only needs to win an Oscar.

The actor and singer won a Tony for Best Actress for The Color Purple in 2016. In 2017, she won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album for the same role and a Daytime Emmy for a performance on Today alongside her castmates from the stage production. She’s been nominated for an Oscar for her roles in Harriet and Wicked, but didn’t win.
5.Kate Winslet only needs to win a Tony.

The actor won an Oscar for Best Actress in 2009 for The Reader. In 2000, she won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for Listen to the Storyteller. She won two Emmys for Best Actress for the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce in 2011 and Mare of Easttown in 2021.
6.Helen Mirren only needs to win a Grammy.

The actor has four Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress for her roles in Prime Suspect 4: The Scent of Darkness, The Passion of Ayn Rand, Elizabeth I, and Prime Suspect: The Final Act. In 2007, she won an Oscar for Best Actress in The Queen and a Tony for Best Actress in The Audience in 2015.
7.Julie Andrews only needs to win a Tony.

The actor and singer won an Oscar for Best Actress for Mary Poppins in 1965. She won three Grammys, including Best Recording for Mary Poppins, Best Spoken World Album for Julie Andrews’s Collection of Poems, Songs and Lullabies, and a 2011 lifetime achievement award. She won her first Emmy in 1973 for The Julie Andrews Hour, and her second for Broadway: The American Musical. While she’s been nominated for three Tonys, she’s never won.
8.Audra McDonald only needs to win an Oscar.

The actor and singer has won six Tony Awards, including Best Featured Actress for Master Class in 1996 and Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill in 2014. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Special Class Program for her work on Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Live from Lincoln Center). In 2009, Audra won two Grammys for Best Classical Album and Best Opera Recording for Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.
9.Ron Howard only needs to win a Tony.

The filmmaker and actor won two Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director for A Beautiful Mind in 2002. He won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1998 for Outstanding Miniseries for From the Earth to the Moon, and a second Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series for Arrested Development. In 2017, he won a Grammy for The Beatles: Eight Days a Week.
10.Cher only needs to win a Tony.

The singer and actor won an Oscar for her role in the 1987 film Moonstruck. She won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for Believe in 2000. In 2003, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special for Cher: The Farewell Tour.
11.Cyndi Lauper only needs to win an Oscar.

The singer-songwriter has won two Grammys, including Best New Artist in 1985. In 2013, she won a Tony Award for her work as a songwriter and producer of Kinky Boots, which earned her another Grammy. In 1995, she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for a role in Mad About You.
12.Frances McDormand only needs to win a Grammy.

The actor has four Oscar wins, including Best Actress for Fargo, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Nomadland. Nomadland also won Best Picture. In 2015, she won two Emmys for Outstanding Limited Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie for Olive Kitteridge. In 2011, she won a Tony for Best Leading Actress in a Play for Good People.
13.Liza Minnelli only needs to win a Grammy.

The actor and singer has won three Tony Awards, including Best Leading Actress for Flora and the Red Menace. Her other wins include Best Leading Actress for The Act and a Special Tony in 1974. In 1973, she won an Oscar for Cabaret and an Emmy for Liza With a “Z”: A Concert for Television. She was nominated for two Grammys for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 1997 and 2010, but didn’t win.

14.Billy Porter only needs to win an Oscar.

The actor and singer made history when he won his first Emmy in 2019 for his role in Pose. In 2013, he won a Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for Kinky Boots and earned a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album the following year for the same role.
15.Cynthia Nixon only needs to win an Oscar.

The actor won an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy in 2004 for Sex and the City, and another for her guest role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2008. 16.Bette Midler only needs to win an Oscar.

She won three Emmys, her first being a Primetime Emmy in 1977 for Outstanding Special Comedy, Variety or Musical for Ol’ Red Hair is Back. In 1974, she won a Special Tony Award and Best Lead Actress in a Musical for the Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly! in 2017. She was nominated for two Best Actress Oscars in 1980 and 1992, but she didn’t win.
17.H.E.R. only needs to win a Tony.

The singer-songwriter currently has five Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance in 2019. She won a Children’s and Family Emmy in 2022 for We the People. In 2021, she won an Oscar for “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah.
18.Common only needs to win a Tony.

The rapper and actor has won three Grammys, including 2002 Best R&B Song for “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip Hop)” with Erykah Badu, 2007 Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group for “Southside” with Kanye West, and Best Rap Song for Visual Media in 2015 for “Glory.” He won an Oscar alongside John Legend for the same song in 2015. In 2017, he won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the song “Letter to the Free.”
19.Jessica Lange only needs to win a Grammy.

The actor won her first Oscar in 1983 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Tootsie. She won another Oscar in 1995 for Best Actress in Blue Sky. She has a total of three Emmys: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Grey Gardens, and the same award for two different seasons of the anthology series, American Horror Story. In 2016, she won a Tony for her lead role in Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
20.Paul McCartney only needs to win a Tony.

The musician currently has 18 Grammy Awards. He won an Oscar in 1971 for the score to the documentary Let It Be. In 2022, he received an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series for The Beatles: Get Back.
21.Ringo Starr only needs to win a Tony.

The musician and actor also won an Oscar for Let It Be in 1971, and an Emmy in 2022 for the documentary The Beatles: Get Back. As for Grammys, he’s received nine in total, including a Recording Academy Trustees Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

24.Lily Tomlin only needs to win an Oscar.

28.Trey Parker and Matt Stone only need to win a Grammy.

Matt and Trey won a Grammy alongside Robert Lopez for Best Musical Theater Album for The Book of Mormon in 2011. They also received two Tonys for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score for The Book of Mormon.
29.Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross only need to win a Tony.
