A chance for nonprofits to turn their big ideas into reality with a new grant process and opportunity here, with all of the details with the Community Foundation of Washington County, is the executive director. Miss Darla. Herrin, Darla, we’re glad you’re here. Thanks for having me. This is big news for a lot of local nonprofits that could be a game changer? I think so. Yeah, absolutely. But before we get into the details of that, for anyone unfamiliar, what is a simple statement, mission, goal, how can you explain what it is that the Community Foundation of Washington County? Does you know that is a challenge. We don’t. We don’t. The things we do are fairly complex, so it’s hard to kind of put into one statement. It is because there we do so many different things. At the heart of it, we’re a non profit. We take in donations that can be used in a number of different ways. For example, some people come to us with and donate to a fund that they create that serves a specific purpose. For example, we have a fund called police and citizens fund, and what that donor advisor does is raise money in the community to fund projects, supplies, resources that the police department does not have the budget for. I think you did a great job explaining that. Well, that’s just one thing we do. We also bring out money, right, right? If I had to say this, my our main, our main goal and initiative is to really grant out money into the community nature. And we can do that in a number of ways as well, well, and that’s really why you’re here today. Yes, because there’s money to be granted, and that’s what we want folks to be aware of. So explain how the competitive grant process is works. What’s happening with this grant cycle that we have? We have eight funds that we our grants committee makes decisions about how to donate. It out. Now some with that said, some of them are specific that are going to at risk youth, like our Harker Family Foundation. We have some more that are going for education, another one going towards insured or not insured. And then there’s some more monies that are just going to serve broad, charitable, general purposes. That’s why it’s important that all 501, C, threes apply to the apply to the grant cycle, because they could get funded. How does the application process work? Briefly, what do folks need to do? Well, so there’s an application link that I believe you’re going to publish. It’s also available on my website, cf washco.org, we’ve also publicized it through our newsletter and on social platforms. They can also call my office and get it as well. But it’s a simple, probably 12 question application. Yeah, it’s not difficult or challenging. I think they’ll have to upload a budget and Board of Directors, basic information, yes, but it’s not, it’s not a tedious, lengthy application, right? So don’t let that scare you, just do it exactly. That’s the main message. If you need help, you can call me, absolutely. Hey, expert help right on the other line, other end of the line, darling, your experience with the foundation. How has grant money like this changed the trajectory, the future of some of these nonprofits? Well, you know, I’ve been in this role for about a year, so I haven’t had years sure of experience. However, if you factor in the federal funding, the gap in federal funding this year, that’s on everybody’s minds. I think that it becomes even more important. Grants like this become even more important and critical, because some of these organizations are very small. They are operating on very small budgets. And without this funding, or some other funding, they might not be able to operate at all. They might have to close up over $87,000 in total. In total, it’s going to be green. I’m glad you mentioned that number, because it just reinforces what you said, that just apply. Yes, apply. That’s the main message. When is the deadline to apply? September 15. September 15. So it is the time is now, yes. When? How long until folks maybe know an answer? So we will have following September 15. We’ll have about six week period where there the applicant, the applications will be reviewed and evaluated, and then we’ll have a decision probably early November. Fantastic. September 15 is the deadline. Yes. Thank you so much. Thank you for having the messenger of wonderful news money, and we want to give it to you. Please just apply. Yes, best guest of the day. We love it. Thank you. I appreciate you absolutely. Darla Herrin, here with us. She is the executive director of the Community Foundation of Washington County. Here with one message, just apply. You can head to our website, at Delta news.tv, for a link to her website and the application. Again, here with us today. Darla Herrin.
