Brooklyn Org named 20 exceptional nonprofits as finalists for the 2026 Brooklyn Org Spark Prize, an annual award that celebrates organizations advancing social justice across the borough.

Each finalist will receive a $5,000 matching grant through the Brooklyn Gives campaign, with five winners set to receive $100,000 unrestricted awards to be announced in early January.

The finalists were selected for their alignment with the Prize’s core values: Born in Brooklyn, Commitment to Equity, and Vision for the Future, as well as for their measurable impact on communities across the borough. 

“From immigrant justice and youth leadership to arts, housing, and economic opportunity, these finalists reflect the breadth and brilliance of Brooklyn’s nonprofit sector,” said Dr. Jocelynne Rainey, president and chief executive officer of Brooklyn Org. “Their work is rooted in community, powered by equity and sparking lasting change for our neighbors.”

The Spark Prize reflects Brooklyn Org’s mission to ignite lasting social change. It honors organizations with deep local roots, a strong commitment to equity and racial justice and a forward-thinking, community-driven vision.

Finalists are selected through a rigorous review and interview process by the Spark Prize Committee, which includes local leaders, nonprofit professionals and community members. Winners will be celebrated at the Brooklyn Org Spark Prize Breakfast at Barclays Center in early January.
