When Gucci dresses the room, you know it’s going to be a feast for the eyes. The Fourth Annual Caring for Women Dinner at The Pool in New York City proved just that, with co-chairs Demi Moore, Salma Hayek and Jessica Chastain joined by Dakota Johnson, Kirsten Dunst, and Yara Shahidi, all showcasing looks from the house.

Yara Shahidi was impossible to miss in lime green Gucci. The gown’s thigh-high slit, trimmed in tonal ostrich feathers, was both playful and a nod to cheeky glamour. Paired with Gucci green bamboo-heel sandals, it was fearless, joyful, and my personal favourite of the night. Yara’s flirtation with minimalism might be over, but her instincts remain razor sharp — maximalist or not, she knows how to land a look. Jacob & Co. jewels completed her look.

If you’re surprised to see Dakota Johnson in a black sheer Gucci gown scattered with Flora, welcome to Earth. This is her M.O. — and it stays her M.O. no matter who’s in the creative director’s chair. I can already hear the collective eye-rolls: yes, it’s predictable, and yes, the lingerie-adjacent thing feels extra familiar after Margot Robbie’s two sheer moments yesterday. But here’s the truth — when Dakota does this lane, she does it with conviction, and that consistency is part of her allure. However, my quibbles are in the styling. The Jessica McCormack necklace over a high neckline wasn’t need, and the hair reads older than the dress deserves.

Jessica Chastain went sheer lace again, but this time it hit different. Her Gucci lilac lace and tulle strapless gown, complete with a heart-shaped neckline and dazzling embroidery, felt infinitely fresher than her Ralph Lauren look the night before. The fuchsia lip sealed it, proving once again that redheads don’t have to shy away from colour — she owns every shade she steps into. Playful, sexy, and radiant, this was Jessica at her best. I honestly don’t know why she wears any other label but Gucci.

I admit my first thought this Gucci gown was recycled from Kirsten Dunst’s Academy Museum Gala gown, but this halter-neck look, fastened with a gold Horsebit necklace detail, had its own story. Brown isn’t the first shade I’d put her in, but it works here once again, especially styled with a gold Gucci Bamboo Night clutch complementing the neckline.

Demi Moore delivered sparkle (pun intended) with an edge, wearing a Gucci high-slit black gown with a serpentine sequin motif woven into the fabric. Add Gucci High Jewelry — tourmaline, garnet, opal, diamonds — and it was the perfect mix of drama and enduring elegance. Demi never misses a chance to remind us why she’s still a red carpet powerhouse. And I love her for that.

Salma Hayek-Pinault usually gravitates toward statement-making looks at events like this, but on this occasion she surprised me by keeping it strikingly simple. She chose a tuxedo-inspired strapless Gucci dress which was a refreshing shift from her usual red carpet theatrics. Finishing touches came courtesy of Boucheron, with Vendôme Liseré pendant earrings completing her look.

From colour-drenched glamour to sheer signatures and sequin seduction, Gucci made sure this dinner wasn’t just about the cause, but about reminding us of fashion’s ability to tell a story. Now we wait to see the next chapter of that story under Demna.
