Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie had never worked together before co-starring in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey — but it didn’t take long for the actor to fall for her charm.
During a joint appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday, September 16, Farrell, 49, explained, “You hear things through the years, ’cause as you know yourself, it’s a fairly small industry,” noting that he had crossed paths with multiple actors and crew members who had raved about how “extraordinary” Robbie, 35, is.
“It’s obvious that she’s an incredible actress, but how kind and how fun and just one of the team she is, which is always a turn-on for me,” the Minority Report star continued as the audience reacted. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Straight up.”
For her part, Robbie admitted that hearing that Farrell was involved in the project was one of the film’s selling points.
“I’ve always wanted to work with him,” the Barbie star — who is married to filmmaker Tom Ackerley, with whom she shares an 11-month-old son — explained. “Then I started reading [the script] and it was impossible to say no to.”
“I also have always heard these things about Colin,” she continued. “Everyone talks about what a great guy he is. Obviously, I know he’s talented and all that.”
As Farrell teased that she was only complimenting him because he had already sung her praises, Robbie rebutted, “If you’re going to give me compliments, you have to take them too.”
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey hits theaters September 19.
