Dwayne M. Murray was born in Franklin, Louisiana, to Damon and Elva Murray. He is the Managing Member of the law firm, Murray & Murray, LLC, Attorneys at Law. From 2020 to 2022, Dwayne M. Murray served as Grand Sire Archon for Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. From 2007 to 2011, he served as the Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and received its Laurel Wreath recognition in 2021. Murray, an insolvency lawyer, is the first African American hearing officer for the United States Bankruptcy Court for Region 5 in Louisiana and Mississippi and became the first African American elected to serve as President of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Additionally, he is the first African American from Louisiana and Mississippi to join the American College of Bankruptcy. Murray has served on the board of directors for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Kappa Foundation, and the Boulé Foundation. He is a former President of the Council of Presidents for the National Panhellenic Council, and served as President of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society from 1992 to 1993.
