The first trailer for Season 2 of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake has finally dropped. The extremely popular series set in the Adventure Time franchise has received widespread critical acclaim. Moreover, many fans have been waiting for the second season since the finale of the first. Thankfully, fans don’t have to wait long, and the premiere of the second season is set to air on October 23.
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake allowed the franchise to expand on a set of throwaway episodes, which vastly expand the overall multiverse. While Fiona and Cake were originally thought to be the mad ramblings of the Ice King, this series proves they are so much more. While the first season was meant to establish Fionna and Cake’s status in the multiverse, this new season will likely provide another set of important elseworld stories.
This trailer provides another parallel between Fionna and Finn with the reintroduction of DJ Flame, who seemingly broke up with Fionna via text in the first season. His prominent status in the Season 2 trailer has led many to believe the upcoming season might draw more connections between Finn the Human’s original tale with the Flame Princess. It’s likely Fionna might even get some advice from Prime Finn, as he also makes several noticeable appearances in the trailer.
Despite being a Fionna and Cake story, the Season 2 trailer of Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake features three different versions of Finn. Baby Finn, Farmworld Finn, and Prime Finn all seem to have somewhat prominent roles in the upcoming story. While Finn the Human is likely done with his character growth, it’s possible he could provide Fionna with some meaningful advice. Moreover, if anyone can help Fionna see the magical in the mundane, it’s her “Mathematical” counterpart.
Both the trailer and the quick release date have been extremely well-received on Social Media. Fans absolutely cannot wait for a new story in the Adventure Time Universe. While the first season of Fionna and Cake definitely raised more questions than it answered, it was a truly enjoyable watch. It’s very likely the second season will be more of the same.
