Liam Hemsworth is a taken man. The Hunger Games star and his girlfriend, model and actress Gabriella Brooks, have been romantically linked since December 2019. The rumors are that they may even be engaged, as People spotted Brooks wearing a diamond ring on that finger in August 2025.
35-year-old Hemsworth was previously married to singer Miley Cyrus from December 2018 to August 2019. They’d dated on and off for a decade, but their divorce was finalized in January 2020.
The actor and Brooks, 28, were first spotted together in December 2019. They were photographed sharing some PDA the following month in their native Australia, confirming their relationship. “Liam and Gabriella have spent a lot of time in Australia together,” a source told People in January 2020, adding that the new couple were getting “serious.”
After surviving the ultimate relationship test — quarantining together during the COVID-19 pandemic — the couple have continued to plot a quiet love story over the last five years. They made a rare red carpet appearance together at the U.K. premiere of Chris Hemsworth’s series Limitless: Live Better Now in July 2025, but they mostly keep their whirlwind romance out of the spotlight.
Brooks explained her desire to keep her relationship private in a 2021 interview with Australia’s Stellar magazine: “My personal relationship is very, very important and very sacred to me. And I feel like, in an industry where so much is put out on show, there are some things you just want to keep to yourself,” she said.
“[Liam’s] great. [The Hemsworths] are great,” the model added later in the interview. “They are the most beautiful people and I’m very lucky to know them.”

Like Hemsworth, Brooks grew up in Australia. “I was born in Sydney to my Singaporean-Chinese mum and Kiwi dad,” the model shared with Women’s Health Australia in a December 2021 cover story.
She had the chance to visit her mother’s native Singapore in March 2024, posting about the trip to her Instagram that month. “The Eastern & Oriental Express ♥️ This was such a special trip for me. Our mum was born in Singapore, as was our Grandmother, so to be back here experiencing this journey with my baby sister has been a dream come true,” she wrote in the post’s caption.
In her Women’s Health Australia cover story, Brooks revealed she has four siblings, which makes her family slightly larger than the Hemsworths with their brother trio. She also discussed dabbling in water skiing and gymnastics growing up, even competing overseas in the former.
“I grew up at the beach, so it feels like home,” she said in an interview with It’s Now Cool.
Brooks’ love of the water is another thing she shares in common with Hemsworth, who’s regularly spotted catching a wave with his brother Chris.
She started modeling at 14.
Brooks was still a teenager when she was scouted and signed to her first modeling agency. Soon, her time outside of school was spent walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week and shooting glossy editorials.
The 29-year-old came up around the same time social media truly exploded, and it radically changed the way that models were perceived. “When I started, you were kind of like a blank slate. People would project ideas onto your face and that’s what modeling was, I guess,” Brooks explained to Harper’s Bazaar Australia in January 2024.
“Whereas now, because of the internet and social media and all of these things, I feel there’s something really special about showing who you are to the world and presenting yourself as a rounded person, instead of just a face on a board,” she continued.

Per her January 2024 digital cover story forHarper’s Bazaar Australia, Brooks attended the University of Sydney. She studied archeology and ancient history, but left school when her modeling career began to take off.
“I chose to step into the fashion world with the knowledge that I could always go back to a university education when or if the time was right,” she told the outlet.
“I kind of fantasize about one day going back to school and doing a literature degree,” Brooks said in the same interview.
She made her acting debut in 2018.
The Sydney native made her first foray into acting in 2018, per IMDB, when she appeared in the short film Unremarkable.
In 2020, she offered an update on her pursuit of the craft: “I’ve been in class and with my coach studying acting for the past couple [of] years, and I’m really enjoying the process,” she told Vogue Australia. “I’ve just signed with an acting agent here in Australia, as well as my American reps, which I’m really excited about.”
She previously dated The 1975’s Matty Healy.
Before beginning her relationship with Hemsworth in 2019, Brooks was linked with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. They went public as a couple when they attended the BRIT Awards together in 2017.
“Oh, bless. I’ve put her through the mill, brought her closer, pushed her away, brought her closer,” Healy told The Times of the couple’s relationship in 2017, when asked if he could see himself settling down with Brooks.
