The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news about Searching for Stars Hollow.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Gilmore Girls studio Warner Bros. Discovery, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and Ink on Paper Studios for further comment.

Launched in October 2000, Gilmore Girls follows the lives of close-knit mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, in the fictional small town of Stars Hollow, Conn. The show ran for seven seasons and also starred Melissa McCarthyScott Patterson, and the late Edward Herrmann.

In 2016, Netflix released the four-episode revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which picks up years after the series finale and sees the return of all Stars Hollow’s favorites, from the titular Gilmore girls to Stars Hollow’s beloved townies and, yes, all three of Rory’s boyfriends. (Also important to note: Emily wears jeans.)

Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna are directing Searching For Stars Hollow, with Jim Demonakos producing and Adam F. Goldberg executive-producing.

“The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight,” Balakumar said in a statement, per THR. “We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more. And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment.”

Demonakos added, “Searching For Stars Hollow will reveal how Gilmore Girls came to life, why it continues to resonate across generations, and how its unique blend of humor, heart and pop culture shaped a devoted worldwide fan community with an in-depth look at its creation and the connections it continues to foster. This documentary is for fans of the show but also for anyone with an interest in cultural history and how it affects individual lives.”

There’s no word yet whether Graham or Bledel will be participating in the documentary. EW has reached out to representatives for both for comment.
