Graham Norton has revealed the most unhinged request he’s ever had from a celebrity guest – and it’s a wild one.

The 62-year-old comedian and broadcaster’s talk show, The Graham Norton Show, is a Friday night staple in the UK, and last year averaged 2.9 million viewers.

For those who aren’t familiar, every week the talk show host welcomes a slew of celebrity guests to his iconic red sofa to grill them about their lives and ongoing projects.

Some of the most famous faces who’ve graced the programme include A-list big names like Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise, Emma Stone, Will Smith and Hugh Grant.

And more recently, Norton interviewed pop superstar Taylor Swift, notably asking her about her engagement to Travis Kelce and her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The 35-year-old songstress was joined by Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Domhnall Gleeson.

As to be expected for someone who meets so many celebrities, Norton is constantly asked questions about who was easy to work with and who was a nightmare.

Back in September 2023, during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host revealed the craziest production request his team have ever had from a guest.

As per Hello Magazine, he recalled: “You get used to it but the one that kind of took our breath away… This person will remain nameless. I’ll call her ‘she’.

“She wanted for herself nine dressing rooms and we go, ‘fine here’s your nine dressing rooms’.”

However, after being granted her wish, the mystery star was still not happy and wanted a 10th room for a very bizarre reason.

Norton continued: “That afternoon, I’m sitting in the production office and one of her minions comes into us and says: ‘It’s a 911 situation. We need another dressing room’. So, Catherine, our line producer, is very organised, she gets on the phone: ‘I’ll get you another dressing room’.”

His producer went on to ask: “Out of interest, why does she need another dressing room?” and was told “Oh, she wants to charge her cellphone.” So, not exactly a 999-level emergency.

Norton has also previously opened up about another guest who was ‘hell’ to interview on the show back in 2013 as he’d had one too many to drink. We’ve all been there – just not on national TV.

Speaking at the Henley Literary Festival, according to The Independent, Norton recalled: “If you ever see a drunk person on the show, it’s because they’ve arrived drunk – we have not made that happen.”

He then name-dropped as he explained: “Mark Wahlberg was a weird one because when he arrived, he didn’t seem drunk.

“He told me about his film, told me a couple of stories about stunts going wrong or whatever, and then it was only 15 minutes into the show when whatever the hell was in his system really took hold – and it was hell.”

He was promoting his movie Broken City alongside fellow guests Sarah Silverman and Michael Fassbender and at one point, he even sat on Norton’s knee and began caressing his face.

Norton continued: “No one could tell a story. You tried to tell a story, he’d just interrupt and, at one stage, Michael Fassbender was telling a story and this one was going quite well. He was really getting into the heart of the anecdote.

“I thought, ‘this one is going well – I wonder why’ and I looked over at Mark Wahlberg and he was asleep. So yeah, we don’t encourage that.”

Wahlberg later told Digital Spy: “I tried to do a bit, and some people took it a little too seriously.”
