INDIANA— Nonprofit organizations in Indiana can now apply for federal funding to enhance their physical security through the Fiscal Year 2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). The grant is a competitive reimbursement program designed to help nonprofits at risk of a terrorist attack integrate their preparedness activities with broader state and local efforts.
How to Apply
The application window for both the NSGP-State (NSGP-S) and NSGP-Urban Areas (NSGP-UA) grants is officially open. The application deadline for all Indiana local applicants is 5 p.m. EDT on October 21, 2025.
- Organizations located in Marion or Hamilton counties are required to apply for the NSGP-UA grant.
- Organizations located outside of Marion or Hamilton counties must apply for the NSGP-S grant.
All proposed projects are capped at $200,000.
A complete application must include five documents:
- Investment Justification
- Vulnerability Assessment
- Mission Statement
- W-9
- Automated Direct Deposit form
Applicants must also complete a vulnerability assessment and secure an active Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) before applying. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application Assistance
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) Grants Section will host a webinar at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 10, to explain the grant process. Interested organizations must register by noon ET on Tuesday, September 9.
Applicants are also advised to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. Grant writers or consultants cannot later be chosen as vendors for the work funded by the grant. All vendors must be selected through a fair competition process.
