HOLLYWOOD, Md. — On Sept. 4, family, friends and neighbors will gather to celebrate the 100th birthday of Gloria Marie Tippett, a beloved matriarch whose century of life has been marked by joy, devotion and faith.

Though petite in stature, Gloria is known for her vibrant personality, her warm smile and her unmistakable laugh — fondly remembered by her family as a cheerful “cackle.” Her love of music and dancing has always filled gatherings with life and joy, leaving lasting memories for those lucky enough to share in them.

Born in 1925, Gloria is the proud mother of six children, grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of more than 25. A devout Catholic Christian, she has lived her life caring for others — raising her children, supporting her family and even tending to her mother, Agnes Taylor, who also lived beyond 100.

Her marriage to Joe Tippett was defined by love and adventure, taking them across the United States and Europe. Yet it was at home in Hollywood, Md. — on Tippett Road by Nates Creek — where they built a legacy. Their home became a gathering place for generations, where Gloria served up her famous fresh cherry waffles and steamed crabs, surrounded by family and the beauty of Southern Maryland.

Known for her loving nature, steadfast faith and joyful disposition, Gloria has been a constant presence in the lives of those around her. As she approaches her 100th birthday, her family describes her as the heart of their world — a source of comfort, laughter and inspiration.

This week, Gloria will mark a milestone few achieve, but her legacy of love and generosity has already left an impact that will endure for generations.
