As a Celebrity Style Editor, my days are spent looking through hundreds of images of celebrity homes, most of which feature statement lighting. However, even though I’ve seen much more statement lighting than the average person, I was still pleasantly surprised by Kaley Cuoco’s design.

The Big Bang Theory actress’s living room lighting idea features dozens of single lightbulb pendant lamps hanging from the ceiling at different heights. Her designer, Jeff Andrews, has arranged them in such a way that they look like raindrops cascading from the ceiling.

Kaley’s dramatic lighting is the perfect complement to the maximalist design in the rest of the space. Though such a bold and striking light might feel overwhelming if used with a more pared-back design, it adds to the sense that everywhere you look in the room there is something exciting to see. From the pink chair to the patchwork rug to the pendant lights, every inch of the space is a focal point.

Furthermore, I think that Jeff’s choice of a brass finish for Kaley’s space is stunningly fitting for the excess of yellow and gold in the room.

Rather than mixing metals, the gold finish of the lighting coordinates with the gold rim of the mirror, the gold edge of the hanging chair, and the decorative objects on the glass coffee table. The reflective quality of all of these surfaces helps the lights appear even brighter, flooding Kaley’s entire living room with stunning illumination.

Finally, I admire how Kaley’s choice of light fixture adds more interest to the room, which is full of round and curved shapes. Part of what makes it so beautiful is its departure from the rest of the scheme, providing an unexpected visual reprieve. When it’s time to replace the lighting in my living room, I will definitely consider something like this.

Some designs make you stop in your tracks, and Kaley Cuoco’s maximalist lighting definitely has that ‘wow’ factor. When something feels so personal and unique, it will never go out of style.
