INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indiana Latino Expo is returning to Indianapolis, offering a month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of resources and events for the Latino community.

The Expo, which has been a staple in the community for over two decades, provides essential services such as consular assistance, health, and educational resources to Latino families in Indianapolis. This year’s event includes both in-person and virtual components to ensure accessibility for all.

Rafael Sanchez, associated with the Indiana Latino Expo and Old National Bank, emphasized the importance of the Expo as a means to break down barriers and provide necessary information to the community. “It’s a way to pull together a lot of different resources in the community and just provide wraparound services to members of our community that are in need,” Sanchez said.

Local organizations, including Old National Bank, have rallied around the Expo to support its mission. Sanchez noted that Old National Bank’s corporate mantra, ‘better together,’ aligns with the Expo’s goals of community support and thriving. “We believe that in order for our community to thrive, all of our segments of our communities have to thrive,” he stated.

The Expo is adapting to current times by offering virtual events, making it easier for people to access the resources they need. Sanchez highlighted the importance of meeting people where they are, especially given the political landscape and the need for safety.

Community members are encouraged to support the Expo by donating financial resources and attending events. Sanchez reassured that the Expo is open to everyone, not just those of Latino heritage, and promised a lively atmosphere with food and dancing.

The Indiana Latino Expo continues to be a vital resource for the Latino community in Indianapolis, fostering connections and providing essential services during Hispanic Heritage Month. With strong support from local organizations and a commitment to accessibility, the Expo is set to make a significant impact.
