We’re in the middle of a ripping hot summer. The first official day of fall is still another two months away. But none of that has stopped Joseph Quinn from getting a head start on unleashing some elite autumnal outerwear upon the world. For the past month, the British actor has been on a global press tour for the new Fantastic Four movie, and he spent last week making the rounds in New York. Despite temperatures hovering into the mid-90s, the Human Torch still stepped out into the Manhattan humidity in a slew of supremely suave coats and jackets.

It all began last Wednesday, when Quinn flew into JFK airport in a look that could hold its own amongst the moodboard-dominating travel looks of yesteryear. He nailed the delicate dance of style and comfort crucial for a high-grade airport fit. Cozy baggy pants? Check. Versatile layering of a T-shirt and sweater? Check and check. A great leather jacket? Absolutely—and it was the cropped and boxy silhouette that continues to lead the pack.

The next day, Quinn was in the middle of Manhattan, alongside H.E.R.B.I.E. and The Thing, in an Alexander McQueen denim trucker jacket with a contrast corduroy collar and a delightful vintage-inspired wash. He paired it with the label’s matching darted slim jeans, no less. (Quinn is not the only one being tempted by the siren song of skinny denim.) He completed the ensemble with a pair of pointed-toe boots sharp enough to poke an eye out.

Then, one quick outfit change later, he was on his way to ABC Studios for a Nightline interview with the rest of the Fantastic Four cast. You know Quinn wasn’t about to miss an opportunity to stunt in another next-level layer. This time, he wore a simple all-black outfit topped with the pièce de résistance: a textured charcoal overcoat from the French label Courrèges’s forthcoming fall 2025 collection. (Take notes for the season ahead: a statement-making jacket over a monochromatic look will always be a winning formula.)

While the rest of us will have to wait for the first crisp breeze of September before we can Really Start Dressin’, the scorching East Coast weather doesn’t apply to movie stars. Let’s not forget the well-documented fact that celebrities doing press are essentially ushered from an air-conditioned town cars to air-conditioned studios and back, meaning the sizzling heat is of little concern to their wardrobe choices. But we can at least watch in admiration as Quinn plants the flag for fall outerwear on behalf of menswear dudes everywhere as we count down the days until we can do the same.
