Manchester City in contact with PSG to discuss Donnarumma deal

Tuesday’s reports claim that Manchester City have established contact with Paris Saint-Germain in order to discuss a potential deal for Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is being forced out of the Parc des Princes.

PSG, who have recently brought in French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier at a cost of €40m plus up to €15m in bonuses, have decided that Donnarumma is no longer the club’s first choice, despite helping them on their way to victory in the Champions League final less than three months ago.

The 26-year-old has recently been left out of PSG’s travelling squad for the upcoming UEFA Super Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur, not even allowing him a place among the substitutes.

Donnarumma is into the final year of his contract in Paris and has not been able to reach an agreement over an extension, which is part of the reason why PSG have decided to move in a different direction.

With just a few weeks of the summer transfer window left to go, the Italy captain does not have an enormous list of options in front of him, but reports from Fabrizio Romano claim that Man City have been in touch with PSG to learn about the conditions of a potential deal.

Tuesday’s report claims that PSG are seeking a fee in the region of €50m for Donnarumma, which is considered too high given that he has less than 11 months remaining on his current contract and could be available for free next summer.

Man City may also have to work some things around on their end as well, given that Pep Guardiola already has Ederson, Stefan Ortega and summer signing James Trafford at his disposal.

Romano adds that a deal between City and PSG for Donnarumma would only realistically be possible if Ederson were to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer.
