Is Missouri Sports Betting Legal?

Yes. Missouri voters approved Amendment 2 in November 2024, legalizing online and retail sports betting after years of debate over tax rates, video lottery terminals, and regulatory control.

Regulators are targeting a December 1, 2025 launch. Until then, Missourians cannot legally wager with sportsbooks online or in person inside the state, which is why many cross into Kansas, Illinois, and Iowa, where betting is already legal.

For now, daily fantasy sports are legal and regulated, and while horse racing is authorized in law, there are no operating in-state tracks or approved online race books, so practical options are limited.

Missouri Sports Betting Launch Date

The Missouri Gaming Commission has set December 1, 2025 as the statewide go-live date following voter approval of Amendment 2. The launch falls just ahead of college bowl season and shortly before the NFL playoffs, positioning the market for peak football demand. Operators are already preparing with license filings and market-access deals, and regulators have begun awarding mobile licenses as retail sportsbook operations move forward.
