A Bible study is being hosted today at the Mahony Library in El Dorado for locals.

The Bible study is led by Ralph Smith, who is passionate about teaching God’s word to anyone willing to listen. This week’s topic is “How Faith Works.”

Smith explained what made him want to do this.

“Two years before I moved back, the Lord wanted me to go on the radio, and it started there,” he said. “Then I started to think about doing meetings at the library auditorium, and I would do it occasionally. But I decided to do it once a month instead of once a year.”

Smith said this is the second month of hosting his bible study.

“This teaching will be about “How Faith Works,” he said. “Faith will not work where the will of God is not known. Sometimes people struggle with whether they can know what the will of God is.

“So if you’re not sure what the will of God is how can you believe.”

Smith said he chose this segment because he knows how widespread the misunderstanding is about the will of God, and how people suffer unnecessarily.

“You know, they just don’t know,” he said. “And you know, in Scripture, he said, ‘If you pray according to my will, I hear you.’ “

Smith said the topic resonates with him because it transformed his life when he gained the knowledge and revelation of God’s word.

“When I was a younger man I would sit back on the couch and ask the Lord, ‘What am I suppose to be doing?'” he said. “Once I started to study His word, that’s when it becomes revealed — his purpose and plans for us. And the only place you can get it from is Him.

“So that’s why I teach, and I expect for people lives to be changed.”

This event is scheduled to start at noon and end at 1:30 p.m.
