Another NFL Sunday is in the books with an action-packed slate behind us that featured a Super Bowl rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, a stunning overtime showdown between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys and several other action-packed contests that we’ll do our best to catch you up on.

The biggest news of the week was an unfortunate injury to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who went down with a toe injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and didn’t return.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday morning that Burrow will need surgery and will be sidelined for at least three months, which would entail most of the regular season.

In relief of Burrow, QB Jake Browning went 21 of 32 for 241 yards passing, including two touchdowns and three interceptions. It was good enough for the win, though.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels could also be in some injury trouble, having undergone an MRI on his knee after Thursday night’s loss to the Green Bay Packers. Head coach Dan Quinn will reportedly update the media on Daniels’ status on Monday. Daniels played 100% of offensive snaps in Week 2.

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields exited Week 2 after being diagnosed with a concussion, replaced by backup Tyrod Taylor, who finished the game with 56 yards passing and a touchdown. The team announced Monday morning that Fields is in concussion protocol.

Also worth monitoring heading into Week 3 is the state of the San Francisco 49ers, who were without starting quarterback Brock Purdy, also dealing with a toe injury. The Niners continue without starting receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who’s expected to be out several more weeks in his return from a knee injury, as well as star tight end George Kittle, who’s on injured reserve with a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1. Jauan Jennings entered Week 2 as questionable with a shoulder injury, though he played 88.2% of offensive snaps Sunday.

On the non-injury front, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs have a headline story of their own as refs repeatedly didn’t call what looked to be false starts on tush push attempts, resulting in plenty of renewed discourse regarding the controversial play, which went up for a vote at the annual league meetings this offseason. The proposal to ban the tush push would have required 24 votes to pass, but fell just short with 22.

Still on the agenda for the week is a Monday Night Football doubleheader, featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans kicking off at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders (both 1-0) kicking off at 10 p.m. ET, both airing on ESPN and ABC.
