One full week of NFL preseason action is in the books, and there’s plenty to talk about.

On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills solved their biggest training-camp question. Running back James Cook ended his hold-in, inking a four-year, $48 million extension with the franchise, the team confirmed.

The deal ensures Cook, quarterback Josh Allen and wideout Khalil Shakir will remain under contract with the Bills for years to come. It also resolves the Bills’ biggest source for potential drama during camp.

Cook, 25, rushed for 1,009 yards and scored a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns with Buffalo last season.

With Cook under contract, the team can now fully shift its focus to winning its first Super Bowl.

  • Malik Nabers not back at practice yet: Giants star wideout Malik Nabers did not practice Tuesday, leading to more questions about his toe injury. Nabers hasn’t practiced since leaving practice on Aug. 6, which he said at the time was part of “the process.” Head coach Brian Daboll wouldn’t answer questions Tuesday about whether Nabers requires additional tests on his toe at this point. Nabers has dealt with a lingering toe injury since college, which he’s acknowledged might ultimately require surgery, but said earlier in camp the Giants have a “great” day-to-day management plan for it.

  • Packers QB Jordan Love having minor surgery: Jordan Love is undergoing surgery to fix a torn ligament in his left thumb, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Tuesday. Love suffered the injury to his non-throwing hand after hitting a helmet during Sunday’s 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets, and was seen wearing tape around the thumb at Monday’s practice. Gutekunst added that he expects Love to return to practice next week. “He’ll be ready for Week 1 and that’s the most important thing,” Gutekunst said.

  • Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers still frustrated with new helmet: Aaron Rodgers has been practicing in the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II, after his old and preferred Schutt helmet didn’t meet the NFL’s new safety standards. Does he like it? “I don’t like it, no,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there.” Rodgers has been complaining about the new helmet since mandatory minicamp in June. We’ll see if anything changes.

  • Vikings’ Rondale Moore to miss second straight season due to preseason injury: The Vikings announced Tuesday that wide receiver and kick returner Rondale Moore will miss the 2025 season with a left knee injury that sustained during Saturday’s preseason game against the Houston Texans. Moore previously sustained a season-ending injury to his right knee during a preseason practice in 2024 as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings didn’t disclose the precise nature of his injury

  • Chiefs’ Travis Kelce vows to return to elite level: Travis Kelce’s numbers have declined the past couple seasons, and the Chiefs lost their bid to win a third straight Super Bowl in February. That’s weighed on him, with Kelce telling GQ: “I think it might have slipped a little bit because I did have a little bit more focus in trying to set myself up. And opportunities came up where I was excited to venture into a new world of acting and being an entertainer. I don’t say this as ‘I shouldn’t have done it.’ I’m just saying that my work ethic is such that I have so much pride in how I do things that I never want the product to tail off, and I feel like these past two years haven’t been to my standard.” Kelce added, “I just have such a motivation to show up this year for my guys.”
