The Waco Warriors organization aims to offer more youth sports opportunities with a new multi-sport facility.

WACO, Texas — Youth sports in Waco are set to get a boost as the old Regal Theatre will be converted into a state-of-the-art multi-sport complex.

The Waco Warriors organization aims to revamp local youth sports with its Warrior Field House sports facility.

“You can go down to Round Rock and go up to DFW, various places, but not anything really like this here, Waco Warriors Executive Director Matt Hurst said. So we’re excited to bring this for our teams, for our organization, but also the Waco community and area.”

The fieldhouse is set to host spaces for baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, and even soccer in addition to a multi-purpose space for strength and conditioning with a weight room.

Waco Warriors Executive Director Matt Hurst says this facility is much needed to address gaps in youth sports opportunities in the area.

“If there are areas that maybe are underrepresented or don’t have the opportunities, those chances aren’t there,” Hurst said.  “We want to provide that. We want to provide a space and an opportunity for young kids and families who like, hey, we want to do this, but I don’t know where to go. Like we want to be that.”

Hurst says the goal of this facility is not to step on other organizations’ toes, but rather to build on top of available resources to build the best athletes and young people for the community.

“But our end goal is, is not just sports, like if all we do is train up better players, we’re missing our goal. We’re missing our mark. We want to make a lasting impact in our community long term for these kids, long after they’ve stopped playing organized sports,” Hurst said.

The Warrior Fieldhouse is slated to be fully functional by the fall of 2026, but still needs the proper paperwork finalized to begin reconstruction. The Waco Warriors will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony in October to kick things off.
