Despite Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds being good friends for almost 20 years, Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, and Jackman’s girlfriend, Sutton Foster, aren’t exactly close.
“They are both bonded by their men but also have their differences,” one source told the Daily Mail in an article published on Sunday, September 14, comparing the two women’s relationship to that of Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes.
Another added, “When it comes to Blake’s one-on-one with Sutton, they’ve never had a deep and meaningful friendship. There’s no real affinity.”
Both Lively, 37, and Foster, 50, recently found themselves embroiled in drama. The Gossip Girl alum’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni has been making headlines since she filed in December 2024. Since then, the legal battle has only become more contentious.
Foster, on the other hand, has faced scrutiny over her relationship with Jackman, 56. While Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, never publicly named Foster, the New York Post, Sky News Australia and other outlets all reported that she grew suspicious of her husband’s bond with his Music Man co-star before their 2023 separation.
When Jackman and Foster later confirmed their romance, the timing fueled speculation and headlines, and some framed it as an affair that contributed to the couple’s split.
However, the source told the Daily Mail that Lively and Foster’s lack of a close bond “hasn’t put a strain on Hugh and Ryan’s friendship and they’re not stressing about the relationship between their partners.”
