Devon Walker is leaving “Saturday Night Live” ahead of season 51.
Walker, 34, who joined the “SNL” cast for season 48 in 2022, announced his exit via Instagram on Monday, August 25.
“Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But … we made the most of what it is, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f—ed up little family,” Walker wrote in a statement titled “wait..did he quit or get fired?”
NJ.com has reached out to NBC for comment.
Walker noted that jobs in the entertainment industry often “feel like a bunch of little marriages,” most of which are “fleeting.” He also gave a shout-out to “SNL” writers Alex English and Gary Richardson, his cohosts for the “Dad” comedy show.
“More than anything, I’m just really happy I got to do it with Gary and Alex,” Walker wrote. “[We] really went from running a bar show together to working at 30 Rock! It’s a beautiful thing.”
Walker’s “SNL” costar Chloe Fineman commented on the post, writing, “I’ll miss being your pregnant wife all the time!!!!!”

Walker is the first “SNL” cast member to confirm his departure ahead of season 51, although more exit announcements are likely coming. During an interview with Puck News published last week, “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels teased a big cast shakeup.
“It’ll be announced in a week or so,” Michaels said, noting that he “felt pressure to reinvent” after the sketch comedy show’s big 50th anniversary last season.
Season 51 of “Saturday Night Live” premieres on NBC on Saturday, October 4. Past episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
