Thomasville City Council to consider entertainment district, rezoning in older neighborhoods

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) – Thomasville city councilors are scheduled to discuss a few notable items on their meeting agenda Monday evening.

First, councilors are considering setting up an entertainment district in downtown Thomasville, which would allow businesses to sell alcoholic drinks and permit people to walk around downtown drinking them.

Currently, the city permits it for special events, such as First Fridays. If councilors approve the item, it would make it a permanent change.

More news out of South Georgia:

Councilors will also conduct their first reading of an ordinance that would create zoning changes in some older neighborhoods.

If the idea moves forward, tiny homes, duplexes or buildings that house four or fewer units would be allowed.

No decision will be made in Monday’s meeting. The change would have to have another reading before any formal vote.

This article will be updated after the meeting with more details.
