Will Smith, Charlie Wilson, Miss Lauryn Hill and others make surprise appearances at Coachella

Coachella 2024 officially approved. The festival attracted in-person audiences across 7 stages (and tens of hundreds more across multiple YouTube Livestream channels), crammed with energetic performances and surprise appearances from top hip-hop, R&B and soul acts.

Both weekends featured collaborating artists with shocking performances, similar to Big Sean, who joined his partner Jhene Aiko on stage to perform a few of their TWENTY88 hits almost 8 years after the discharge of their collaborative project.

Headliners Tyler The Creator and Doja Cat were joined on stage by surprise guests for the ultimate sets. Tyler the Creator’s performance on Saturday featured Donald Glover, A$AP Rocky and Charlie Wilson, who joined the rapper/singer at the piano for an acapella performance of “911/Mr. Lonely” (sampling Gap Band’s “Outstanding”) and “EARFQUAKE” to raucous cheers and chants from the audience.

On each weekends, rising singer-songwriter YG Marley was joined on stage by his mother, none aside from the legendary Miss Lauryn Hill. She brought along one other third of The Fugees, Wyclef Jean, and fellow rap legend Busta Rhymes for performances of such classics as “Killing Me Softly,” “Fu-Gee-La” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See.” ” On the second weekend, YG’s brother Skip Marley joined him on stage to perform his hit “Slow Down” and the Bob Marley classic.

Later that night, Justine Skye joined Lil Yachty to perform “Running out of Time,” and 50 Cent joined DJ Snake on stage for a surprise performance of his hits.

Perhaps the largest shocker was that through the first weekend, Will Smith joined J. Balvin on stage, donning a Men in Black suit for a performance of “Men in Black” accompanied by aliens.
