A video has surfaced online of NFL draft pick Olu Fashanu’s mother apparently blocking his girlfriend after it was announced that he was chosen with the No. 11 pick this week.
The 21-year-old former Penn State offensive lineman discovered he was drafted by the New York Jets on April 25, nevertheless it was his mother’s response that went viral.

The clip shows the Waldorf, Maryland native sitting between his parents, Anthony and Paige Fashanu, on a settee, with Fashanu’s girlfriend sitting on the opposite side of Fashanu’s mother.
Fashanu doesn’t reveal his personal life and in lots of reports his girlfriend stays unidentified. However, the room full of people gathered with Fashanu when he learned the news from the video has been viewed over 16 million times up to now.
“The New York Jets,” the draft pick said when sharing the news. The hall cheered and Fashanu’s mother gave him an enormous hug. His girlfriend also congratulated him, reaching out and placing her hand on his knee. At the identical moment, Paige Fashanu raised her hand to proceed cheering, blocking the unidentified young blonde.
Fashanu’s girlfriend tried to achieve her boyfriend several more times while the NFL draft pick’s mother hugged her son and celebrated the glad moment. She finally noticed her son’s girlfriend and hugged her too, sitting on the couch.
However, when everyone stood up, Fashanu’s mother hugged her son again, and when his girlfriend tried to hug her boyfriend, Fashanu’s mother entered the block again, which fans noticed.

“The way his mom is blocking, they have to get her ready for the draft too.” he wrote one fan.
“His mom boxing her like Prime Minister Alonzo Mourning lmfaooo” he replied one fan. “Mom doesn’t even look at her, they don’t teach these types of techniques anymore.” added other. “She wasn’t going to get that first hug, lmfaooo.” he was joking one.
One replied signature“NFL draft like” together with a gif from Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” that encourages one other player to answer“LMAO.”
Several fans noted that the moment reminded them of Isaiah Wilson’s mother, Sharese, when she snatched his girlfriend off the couch after he was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2020.
“Definitely better technique than Isaiah Wilson’s mom.” he wrote fan.
Another fan noted that Wilson’s girlfriend didn’t take the hint when his mom first tried to get her attention by touching her arm.

On April 26, the New York Jets shared a message from their latest offensive lineman signature“we love this guy, we already have a message from @olu_fashanu!”
