MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Ten legendary athletes were inducted into the Memphis Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday night.
The annual ceremony was held at the Renasant Convention Center in Downtown Memphis.

The 2025 inductees include Tony Allen, Tommy Buford, Matt Cain, Fred Horton, Joye Lee-McNelis, Bubba Luckett, Sputnik Monroe, Curtis Person Sr., Lucy Wener and Carrie Yerty.
“It’s definitely flattering,” said Allen, a former Memphis Grizzly and defense legend. “My hard work didn’t go unnoticed.”
The Memphis Sports Hall of Fame’s aim is to celebrate the area’s top athletes, coaches, and contributors while also motivating and teaching new athletes about Memphis’ rich sporting history.
“I was very shocked and very surprised,” said Wener, a retired gymnast and Olympian. “And so happy to be back in Memphis, and just very honored and thrilled to be a part of the Sports Hall of Fame.”
