The country singer dated Laura Sigler and supermodel Niki Taylor before marrying Nicole Kidman in 2006. Urban and the Babygirl actress welcomed two children together, and their romance served as inspiration for many of Urban’s tracks, including “The Fighter.”

After 19 years of marriage, a source confirmed to PEOPLE on Sept. 29 that they had gone their separate ways, noting that Kidman “didn’t want this.”

One day later, Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, listing their date of separation as the date of filing and citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Shortly after, a source told PEOPLE that their split was “turning dramatic,” as Kidman believed she could “save their marriage,” while Urban seems to have “already moved on.”

Laura Sigler

Urban’s first public relationship was with Laura Sigler. Little is known about their romance, though Sigler has spoken out on a few occasions in the aftermath of their split.

“He is very attractive and when he talks the talk, he can be very seductive. But I am not sure Keith will ever be ready to settle down,” she told British newspaper The Mail in 2006, per The Sydney Morning Herald.

The outlet also reported that Sigler, who is a veterinary technician, dated Urban for eight years.

Niki Taylor

In the early 2000s, Urban dated supermodel Taylor. During their relationship, Urban and Taylor got matching amor vincit omnia (Latin for “love conquers all”) tattoos, though had them covered up once they went their separate ways.

Taylor later found love with former NASCAR driver Burney Lamar, who she married in December 2006. The pair went on to welcome two children, daughter Ciel and son Rex. She also shares two kids, twin sons Jake and Hunter, with her ex-husband, Matt Martinez.

Nicole Kidman

In January 2005, Kidman and Urban met at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles in 2005. During a 2017 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kidman admitted that although they exchanged numbers, the country star didn’t call the actress for four months.

“I had such a crush on him and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true!” Kidman said. “He didn’t call me for four months.”

The pair eventually began dating and Kidman confirmed their engagement in May 2006. On June 25, 2006, they tied the knot at St. Patrick’s Estate in the beachside suburb of Manly in Sydney.

“It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now,” the source added. “People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”
