Watch: Nicole Kidman Makes First Public Appearance Amid Keith Urban Divorce

Nicole Kidman is bringing awareness to an important cause.

The Big Little Lies star stepped out Oct. 4 in her first public appearance since filing for divorce from husband Keith Urban, attending at an auction in Texas benefiting amfAR Dallas.

During the event, which raised money for HIV/AIDS research, the actress wore a black off-the-shoulder dress as she gave remarks before presenting Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan with the nonprofit’s Award of Inspiration.

“I think what Taylor recognizes, as we all do, is that we are all more alike than we are different, and that we’re better when we look out for each other,” she said in a video obtained by People. “That, of course, is why we’re here tonight. What better way to support, to elevate our common humanity, than to help fund bold and innovative research.”

Since filing for divorce from the “Long Hot Summer” singer Sept. 30, Nicole, 58, has kept a low profile. However, she did step out for a hike in Nashville with her sister Antonia Kidman, who appeared to listen intently as her big sis spoke emphatically, as seen in photos published by the Daily Mail Oct. 1.

Keith Urban Steps Out Without Wedding Ring for First Time Since Nicole Kidman Breakup

As for Keith, the 57-year-old—who shares kids Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Nicole—has also been keeping busy in the wake of the split.  He resumed his High and Alive World Tour Oct. 2 in Hershey, Penn., opting to keep a slideshow featuring a photo of his estranged wife and their daughters as part of the spectacle, according to People.

While the former couple has yet to address the end of their 19-year marriage, E! News previously learned that the breakup was one-sided, as Nicole had been trying to save the marriage while she and Keith were living apart during the summer.

During that period, the Oscar winner had been taking care of Sunday and Faith at the family’s shared Nashville home, while her now-ex stayed at a separate residence in the city.

News learned that the Practical Magic star had submitted application to become a resident of Portugal, with Urban preparing to do the same himself. “Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S.,” a source with knowledge of the situation told E!, “and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa. He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule.”At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.
