Amanda Seales says she felt ‘humiliated’ that no one from ‘Insecure’ came to help her when she was kicked out of a Hollywood party news

Former “Insecure” actress Amanda Seales opened up about her feelings for Issa Rae and the publicist chargeable for denying Seales entry to the Hollywood party.

Seales explained that during a latest interview with “Club Shay Shay,” she was personally invited to the Emmy Awards party by “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Jesse Williams. The event was called “Celebrate the Culture II” and was an Emmy Awards after-party for the Black community planned by Rae’s publicist Vanessa Anderson and others.

“… I was literally told, ‘You can’t come to the party Jesse Williams invited me to.’ This is the only Black event on Emmy weekend because a white woman tells me I can’t attend. But I’m fine,” he says. he said during a live broadcast on Instagram. “It’s security escorting me from the Black Emmy party, that’s what’s happening.”

Seales told host Shannon Sharpe that Williams invited her via text to the after-party, but Anderson wouldn’t let her in. When Sharpe asked what she had done to not be invited in, she replied he said“I have arrived… Here’s how it went.”

She then described most white parties in Hollywood as boring, but recalled the good time she attended the primary Black Emmy after-party in 2018 with Jill Scott.

Seales also noted that she then told Rae that Anderson “had a problem with her,” but Rae replied, “It’s between you two. It’s not my business.

In the stand-up special “Smart, Funny & Black”, it is claimed that she was unaware of what she did to irritate Anderson, but she heard the publicist say, “Oh, come on, Amanda,” while she was just standing next to Scott and doing nothing he did not do.

So when she attended a party in 2019 with fellow “Insecure” actor Kendrick Sampson and her friend Katheia, Anderson told her she couldn’t go inside.

“She tells us, ‘You can come in, you can come in’… and she says, ‘No, you can’t come in.’ I asked: “Why can’t I come in?” He says, “You are on the no-go list.”

Seales added that Sampson went inside to find out what happened and decided to leave the party before Joey Harris, Janet Jackson’s consultant, walked her back to the door and asked why she wasn’t let in.

The 42-year-old went into a lengthy discussion about working on the comedy competition show “Bring the Funny” with Jeff Foxworthy and mentioned that he used his privilege to solve problems on set.

“Sometimes I leave, but I always come back,” she added before continuing her story.

The 42-year-old said Harris also went inside to find out. She tried to leave again before meeting singer Elijah Kelly, who also wanted her to stay at the party. As one of the party organizers, Kelly tried to bring her in, but Anderson grabbed her arm before Seales pushed her away.

The comedian said she went to a bar, but Anderson’s security soon kicked her out. “I have a security guard your size coming up to me,” she told the 6-foot-2 Sharpe. “And he says, ‘I’m going to have to ask you to leave.’”

Seales added that it was Anderson who told security she had to leave and sent two other security guards to escort her. She said she felt “humiliated” that no one from the program came to help her.

The actress noted that Rae called her after the party to say she heard what happened but had nothing to do with it. Seales then revealed that she never felt protected by Rae, noting that her time on the HBO comedy “Insecure” wasn’t easy.

The trouble began after the 2015 comedy series “Get Your Life,” created by Seales, was promoted on Rae’s YouTube and the media thought it was her show. Seales said she asked Rae to post a tweet correcting the assumption, but the “Insecure” star declined. Seales said she was protective of Rae on the time since the actress was breaking barriers within the entertainment industry.

“That’s why I’ve never talked about it publicly, because protecting Issa has always been incredibly important to me,” Seales said. “Because I know Issa is doing something in this business that not many people do. … But I know her role is very important, that’s why I always protected Issa.

“So I always protected Issa. But at this point, there were enough instances where Issa should have protected me and he didn’t,” Seales explained. “One of my biggest problems, which we talked about several times in this interview, is that I think people will show themselves to me the same way I show myself to them. And now we have reached the point where Issa’s security has turned against me, which people are using against me.”

“There is a whole narrative that is completely false, that people are constantly spreading nonsense,” she continued. “They keep saying I’m the mean girl on set. That I hurt these people on this set. … How can I be a mean girl on a set that is not my set? How? This is your show. You are my boss. I do not even have the energy to be a mean girl because you would possibly get me fired.

Seales added that after the phone call, Rae agreed to talk to Anderson, however the conversation didn’t go well when Anderson admitted she kicked Seales out of the party because she “didn’t like her.” Seales said she hung up on Anderson and Rae called her again to ask in the event that they would have any problem on the set of the show, while her publicist began a smear campaign against her.

“I said, ‘You know, listen, I’m not saying it’s going to be a problem on set. But I feel the issue is that you do not feel the necessity to step in,” Seales responded.

The actress added that she was later ignored on the set of “Insecure,” where “no one tells me anything.”

“Everyone knows what’s going on and they’re not telling me and it’s just fucking mean. I mean!” Seales insisted. “They’re not telling me anything. And let me tell you, I’ve been trying with these women from the beginning because I want to create community wherever I go.

“I invited them to my house. They didn’t come. I bought them gifts. They say “thanks”. I tried to plan a retreat. They said, “We don’t need to go.”

Seales said not liking someone shouldn’t be enough of a reason for security to kick them out of a party. However, she believes that Rae should have spoken up on her behalf and stopped the publicist from slandering the actress in the industry.
