Actor Glen Powell brought his latest project and a touch of Hollywood to Austin on Friday, hosting a Walmart “Smash Kitchen” pregame event with celebrity chef Nick DiGiovanni.
The “Top Gun Maverick” and “Anyone But You” star, who grew up in Austin and graduated from Westwood High School, used the event to promote his new Hulu comedy series, “Chad Powers.” The pregame was held in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter off of South Interstate 35 and featured live cooking demonstrations, football-themed food tastings and a screening of the show’s first episode.

Glen Powell eyes Texas Longhorns for ‘Chad Powers’ Season 2
Powell recently moved back to Texas after years in Los Angeles. He told fans at the event he hopes to bring more of his work back to his home state — including “Chad Powers.”
“Hopefully if we get a season two, we’re going to be shooting at (Darryl K. Royal Memorial Stadium),” Powell said, referencing the home of the University of Texas football program. “We’ll get some Longhorns on screen.”
‘MasterChef’ alum Nick DiGiovanni joins Powell
Friday’s event marked the latest in Powell’s growing list of brand collaborations tied to his Smash Kitchen condiments line, which launched in partnership with Walmart earlier this year.

DiGiovanni, who is known for his success on the TV show MasterChef, joined Powell onstage during the event to prepare recipes using Smash Kitchen condiments. Together, the duo made wings, burgers and a “grilled pizza,” which they then invited audience members to taste for themselves.
