Gayle King and Charles Barkley ended their limited six-month stints at CNN after reports of low viewership.

Couple gave his farewelle According to them, last week in the ultimate episode of their show, King expressed her hope to work with the NBA star again in the longer term.

“I will say this: I love working with you and something tells me, Charles, that this won’t be the last time we work together,” King told Barkley.

“Call me, Gayle,” Barkley joked.

Addressing viewers, King subtly teased the potential of her and Barkley returning to the network.

“See you next time we see you,” King told the camera. “Thank you very much for being with us over the last six months. We had a great time.”

The talk show’s limited run began in November and was confirmed to end in spring 2024. It only aired one night every week as Barkley co-hosted the favored show on CNN’s sister station TNT.

“has come to an end, as we announced when we premiered last fall, and has been a great addition to CNN’s lineup, with the youngest, richest and most diverse P2+ audience in the cable news era,” a CNN spokesperson said.

Former CNN CEO Chris Licht got here up with the thought for this system and teamed up with King, with whom he worked at CBS News. However, the show was apparently only a test run, because it aired after Licht was fired from CNN last June after just 13 months on the job.

aired at 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday nights, but struggled to attract viewers. Of the 14 episodes aired, the series attracted an average of 459,000 total viewers, including 106,000 within the 25–54 age group. Nielsen listed it as the lowest-rated prime-time evening series debut for CNN within the last decade.
