The Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg is proud to present its Second Annual Celebrity Roast, honoring a true pillar of Anderson County—Joani Clark. A lifelong resident and dedicated public servant, Joani’s journey is one of compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her community.

It will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the The Woodford, East Woodford Street, in Lawrenceburg.

Joani’s roots run deep in Anderson County. She attended Alton Elementary, Anderson Middle School (now Lawrenceburg Christian Academy), and graduated from Anderson County High School, where her favorite class was French with former teacher, Ms. Gladys Hutchinson.

Her career began as a state and federal lobbyist in Lawrenceburg, but her heart led her to public service. Starting as a secretary under Jailer Raymond Houp, Joani rose through the ranks to become Anderson County Jailer in 1999. Her philosophy was simple yet powerful: “I wasn’t there to judge inmates—I was there to take care of them.” She proudly recalls only two fights during her tenure, both involving women, and emphasizes her role as a listener and guide. Many former inmates have approached her over the years to thank her for helping them find a better path in life.

Joani’s dedication didn’t stop at the jailhouse. She recently retired from the Anderson County School Central Office after three years, while continuing her mission to support youth and education. Her selection as this year’s roastee is a testament to her impact and spirit.

Proceeds from the Annual Celebrity Roast will benefit the Key Club of Anderson County and help develop other school-based clubs sponsored by Kiwanis International and the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg, all of which support young leaders and community initiatives.

Joani is married to Steve Clark and is the proud mother of Tony Kinney. The evening’s roasters—Bryan Taylor, Jason Denny, and Brian Ritchey—promise a night of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories.

We invite you to join us honoring Joani and supporting the youth of Anderson County. Tickets are $50 each and include the celebration and a catered dinner.
