Keith Lee is not letting a dull dining experience at Atlanta’s hottest establishments stop him from giving the Southern culinary scene a second probability to impress him.

Months after a disastrous food review stop in Georgia’s capital went viral on social media, a TikTok food reviewer announced plans for a “Familee Redemption Food Tour.”

However, the previous MMA fighter leaves nothing to probability. After sharing the nice, the bad and the ugly about poor customer support at local establishments like Kandi Burruss’ Old Lady Gang in late October, Lee revealed that his family had received death threats in response to critics claiming he was taking down black businesses.

“I can’t win by losing. I understand that everyone will have their own opinion about this situation. You may disagree with me. You might like what I say. I completely understand. I do not mind. But when my and my family’s safety is at stake, that’s when I draw the line,” he said post.

With that in mind, in his March 31 video in which he shared details about visiting the cities that received the poorest reviews, he made it clear that he didn’t want to encounter similar safety issues. The Redemption Tour will include a new selection of suggested restaurants, keeping each city clean.

“We come in peace. With that in mind, we will be protected. These are the people with us who are legal and licensed. We don’t want to use them, but we will. My family is coming home safely and I say that with every bone in my body.” said the content creator, who boasts 16.1 million followers on the platform.

“We’re coming home safely. We just come to eat, meet the people we should meet, do what we should do. Take care of our business. Nothing more, nothing more.”

In the comments, one person wrote, “Can you imagine if ATL was rummaging through the bag AGAIN?” The second message refreshed Atlanta residents’ memories: “You higher remember his hands are licensed.” A third person simply commented: “ATLANTA!!! Why does he have to take such steps to get some food.”

In a follow-up video on April 2, Lee slightly backed away from plans to launch a multi-stop food tour of Atlanta, citing unspecified business reasons.

“Atlanta welcomed us with open arms and I am grateful. After my last experience, I did not expect such a reception and I am grateful. I am grateful. I am grateful. With that in mind, the next stop on the ‘Familee Food Tour’ will be our first international stop – Toronto, Canada, here we come,” he said.

At the time of the filming, the Lee family was in Atlanta, but only for a few days. “So we won’t be here that long and I don’t think it’s fair to fire anyone. If we’re going to do it, we’re going to do it to the end. I really mean it when I say I’m grateful for the party,” the viral food critic echoed.

To cheer up, Lee and friends rented several food trucks to provide the community with food – 500 plates, to be exact – on April 3 at Atlanta’s Selena S. Butler Park with no strings attached. Lee only asked that attendees practice patience as he expected turnout to be “a little crazy” and teased that special guests would likely appear.

As for when Lee will officially return to the city to share the next round of reviews, Lee did not reveal details about his departure dates. In the meantime, Atlanta residents will likely be preparing.
