OU redshirt senior wide receiver Keontez Lewis was helped off the field after running full speed into the brick wall behind the north end zone in Saturday’s matchup against Kent State. Trainers immediately attended to him before he was placed on a stretcher and escorted to the locker room.

The play came on a second-and-goal attempt late in the second quarter. Lewis chased down a pass from quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. in the right of the end zone, but his momentum carried him into the wall just beyond the boundary line. Redshirt junior Javonnie Gibson has replaced Lewis as wide receiver.

Lewis dealt with an injury earlier in the season against Temple. He exited the game after sustaining a helmet-to-helmet hit while attempting to catch a pass in the second quarter. He later returned to action the following week against Auburn.

On the year, Lewis has recorded 17 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
