By now, you’re probably aware that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have split after almost two decades of marriage.
Citing “irreconcilable differences,” Nicole filed to end the marriage and stated that she should be named the “primary residential parent” of her and Keith’s 14- and 17-year-old daughters, according to court documents obtained by BuzzFeed.

The couple have yet to comment publicly on their split, although People reported that a source claimed Nicole was “fighting to save the marriage” and “didn’t want” to separate — and that members of Keith’s inner circle “felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”
Amid growing discourse surrounding Nicole and Keith’s divorce, several internet users have expressed their disappointment with the way some media outlets are reporting on it.

On Sept. 30, a viral tweet called out a tabloid headline that questioned if Nicole’s “string” of “racy roles” was to blame for the end of her marriage. “Did Nicole Kidman’s string of ‘liberating’ racy roles end her marriage? How actress’ sexy career moves left Keith Urban ‘not seeing her as his wife?” it reads.
Of course, Nicole — an esteemed, Academy Award-winning actor — has taken on a ton of varied roles since long before she and Keith met, including racy appearances in Eyes Wide Shut and Dead Calm. And while she has starred in several raunchy projects lately, including Babygirl and A Family Affair, her taking on “racy roles” is nothing new.

Reacting to the now-viral headline, one popular tweet simply read, “Are we not tired.” Someone else said, “You mean her job? The job she had before she even met him? That’s how they’re shifting blame on her? Because she did her job? Just as she always did?
“They always blame a woman’s ambition for a man’s insecurity. Nicole’s liberation is not the villain here—society’s outdated narratives are,” one person said, while another branded the headline “nonsensical.”
“They rarely pull this crap with male celebrities,” one more user pointed out.
Sigh. Let us know what you think in the comments.
