Watch: Rachael Ray Says She Was “Bashed” For Deciding Not to Have Kids
Rachael Ray is not mincing her words.
Amid speculation that the celebrity chef has stepped back from her career engagements since her Rachael Ray talk show ended in 2023, she clapped back.
“I don’t know what they’re talking about,” Rachael clarified in an interview with US Weekly published Oct. 20. “I work my ass off all the time. And I never left.”
Indeed, the 57-year-old—who has been married to husband John Cusimano since 2005—assured she is “working constantly,” despite exiting the daytime television space.
“From the time I left the daytime show, I started writing,” she maintained. “I write around the clock, and I produce shows with my friends around the clock.”
For Rachael, the narrative that she “disappeared” is confusing.
“I don’t know why people thought I left,” she posited. “I guess we did a crap job of promoting it.”
As the celebrity chef continues to helm several different projects including Rachael Ray in Tuscany and Rachael Ray’s Meals in Minutes, she emphasized that she is not letting any perception of her set her back.
“To be a woman in her 50s and still considered relevant is cool, but to have partners that want to help me produce really focused work that I want to produce and support people that I want to support is extraordinary,” she gushed of her continued support from A+E Networks. “I love this place in my life the best right now. I feel like I really earned this. I earned this in concept, in my mind, in my heart.”
She stressed, “People have asked me for decades, ‘Do you feel lesser than because you’re a female in your industry?’ I never felt that way once.”

Even amid major life setbacks like losing her home to a fire in 2020, Rachael has not let anything get in the way of her next goal. As she told E! News in 2023, “I’ve been doing television for 30 years, and I’m keepin’ on, keepin’ on.”
Rachael may be firm in her spot in the industry, but other stars have been more than happy to walk away. Keep reading for every celebrity who has left Hollywood…
