Three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson, 39, is facing one of probably the most difficult times of his life as doctors look for a kidney match.
Although his family members don’t lose hope, some of the athlete’s sports friends are uniting to support his three children.
Among those that will advance is coach Deion “Prime Time” Sanders, who during one of Nahmier Robinson’s team practices watched the young football player while his father waited for a life-saving donor. Their 20-second exchange was captured on Sanders’ Coach Prime Cam.
“3-4,” Sanders shouts. “3-4. How are you?”
“I’m good. How are you?” replies the University of Colorado redshirt freshman.
Sanders grabs his helmet, shakes the guard and says, “You know what I mean. How are you?”
“I’m doing well,” Nahmier says, and Sanders repeats, “How are you? If you would like us, let me know. I’m proud of you, boy. … You play, man. To proceed.”
Sanders, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes football team, helps a young NCAA player adjust to the team in addition to the challenges of his ailing father’s health issues.
A brief video clip was posted on X, to which some social media users responded: saying“We love prime” AND “Don’t sleep, Nahmier.”
Some wondered why the exchange was recorded, not realizing that it was part of the team’s Portal Day and that the coach was recording to observe the footage later and reinforce where the team’s weaknesses were.
“If he were real, he would do it camera!” one of the critics wrote, and one other said: “Ask why I should record it well, maybe other coaches will see it and try to check how (their) players are doing mentally in my opinion book“
Nahmier, 19, is the older brother of Robinson’s other two children and appears to be managing to carry every part together while his dad fights for his life.

During this time, children try to take care of at the least slightly bit of normality. His younger brother, Nyale Robinson, follows in his father’s footsteps. The 17-year-old, aged 5 and 10, is currently a junior in Skyline High School within the suburbs of Seattle, playing on the basketball team. Little is thought concerning the group’s 8-year-old child, Nasir Chakur Robinson.
Nate says he needs a donor quickly because his life is dependent upon it.
“I know I don’t have a lot of time if I can’t get a kidney,” the retired NBA star said. “I know I won’t live long. So I just want to use this time as best I can.”
Nate says he has been privately fighting his health since 2021, but he decided to share his story with the general public in hopes of saving someone’s life. He said he hopes to be “the voice of all those who have difficulty talking about this disease and unite for a more important cause: our health.”
Robinson’s NBA profession began in 2005 and spanned 11 seasons with eight teams. His last appearance was within the 2015-16 season, where he played two games for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Despite being 5’10”, relatively short by NBA standards, he displayed extraordinary athleticism, especially when it got here to his electrifying dunks. He won his first dunk contest in 2006, repeating the feat in 2009 and 2010.
After retiring from the NBA, he went on to play within the Israeli Premier Basketball League, the G League’s Delaware 87ers, and an expert basketball league in Venezuela.
