“He went all out—1o out of 10,” she said.
When it came to their engagement and how he proposed, Taylor Swift said in a new interview that fiancé Travis Kelce knocked it out of the park.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show on October 3, Swift said of Kelce that “He really crushed it in surprising me.” Referencing Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights”—which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce—she sweetly added, “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in.”
“He went all out—10 out of 10,” she continued.
When asked to further elaborate on their forthcoming wedding plans, Swift said, “You’ll know”: “I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning,” she said. “I think it will be fun to plan.”
Speaking of her Eras Tour—which spanned five continents and lasted for 21 months—“I was physically exhausted, sick and worn down, so to spark me up, I had the album as a secret passion project behind the scenes,” Swift said. “It stopped me hitting a wall.”
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on August 26; in designing the ring—which features a massive old mine brilliant cut diamond—Kelce joined forces with jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry, who Swift called “amazing” and praised for doing “all of her gold engraving by hand.”
Speaking on the October 3 episode of the U.K. radio show “Heart Breakfast,” Swift said she told Kelce that she liked her designs a year and a half before he proposed.
“I had shown him a video—I just thought her stuff was so cool,” she said. “I had shown him a video like, a year and a half ago, and he was just paying attention to everything, it turns out, because when I saw the ring I [gasped].”
“I was like, ‘I know who made this, I know who made this’—and also, you listen to me!” she added. “It was like, you really know me. I didn’t know what I would want, but he did somehow, and that’s kind of a flex.”
