BRAZOS COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The 7th annual Brazos Valley Gives fundraising campaign has once again demonstrated the incredible generosity of the community, surpassing its $1 million goal.

The Brazos Valley Community Foundation CEO Patricia Gerling emphasized the collective spirit of the campaign.

“Everyone came together to give to their favorite nonprofit, and that’s what it’s all about,” Gerling said. “The evidence is in the numbers.”

Donations poured in all day from across the Brazos Valley, showcasing a profound commitment to local causes. By 6 PM, Brazos Valley Gives had already reached its target, a milestone that will significantly impact numerous local nonprofits.

One organization is Sleep in Heavenly Peace, which provides beds for children in need.

“We build and deliver bunk beds for children in our community that don’t have a bed to sleep in,” explained co-president Joel Hammond.

The nonprofit spends its funds on materials for the beds, and Hammond donations from Brazos Valley Gives will go directly to buying supplies.

The Aggieland Humane Society is another beneficiary, with funds raised today crucial for maintaining their year-round community programs.

“I get so excited every year to see the dollars rise and the donations come through because we depend so much on this money to make these life-saving programs possible,” said Savannah Gaines from the Humane Society.

By the end of the day, close to 200 local nonprofits will benefit from the outpouring of generosity from the Brazos Valley community.

Gerling expressed immense pride and gratitude for the community’s spirit, stating: “Our hearts are very full today, and we couldn’t be more blessed to live where we do.”
