INDEPENDENCE, Ohio – If you were at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport this morning, you may have seen Emmy-winning and James Beard Award-winning Chef Andrew Zimmern queuing up for his flight to Boston.
Zimmern is known for his work on the Travel Channel’s “Bizarre Food with Andrew Zimmern” and “The Big Food Truck Tip” on the Food Network and more. He is also releasing “The Blue Food Cookbook: Delicious Seafood Recipes for a Sustainable Future” Tuesday, Oct. 28.
The chef buzzed into town to share his recovery story with the folks who attended the “Pearls of Wisdom” gala by Riveon Mental Health and Recovery on Thursday, Oct. 23. He served as keynote speaker. Held in Independence, the gala honored companies and individuals who support the Lorain-based nonprofit regional mental health and recovery organization.
“I told my recovery story and spoke about the importance of affordable recovery services, how it benefits communities and saves more money than it costs to get people with mental health issues, especially SUD’s (substance abuse disorders), healthy and well,” Zimmern said in an email.
