DAVENPORT, Iowa. (KWQC) – A Quad Cities non-profit was awarded a $10,000 grant on Friday.

One Eighty received a Nation of Neighbors Empowerment Award from the Royal Neighbors of America during a graduation ceremony for those in recovery.

The organization, which supports people recovering from sexual abuse, homelessness and addiction, is one of six nonprofits across the country to receive the award, according to a media release.

Royal Neighbors of America is one of the oldest women-led non-profits in the country, officials.

One Eighty got the the award, officials said, because of their leadership and for expanding the Residential Recovery Program which provides people with housing while getting them back on their feet after sexual abuse, homelessness and addition, according to a media release.

Jenny Halupnik, a leader with One Eighty, said the grant money will be used on mentoring for the women they serve.

“We’re investing heavily in our mentoring program right now, recruiting more one on one mentors, that they have somebody that can teach them life skills and do life with them,” she said.

Halupnik said the organization also plans on investing in building resources for families.

“We know that often times when somebody suffers with addiction, There’s a ripple affect through the whole family,” she said. “The parents suffer, the kids suffer, the spouse suffers and so we want to expand to reach those family members.”
