NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) – On Monday, over 600 Everwise Credit Union employees rolled up their sleeves to volunteer in communities across the state of Indiana and southwest Michigan.

It’s part of the Everwise Day of Giving. In New Albany, that’s at Family Ark.

Its mission is to provide human service programs that promote positive change in the lives of children and families. It offers services like foster care, therapy and substance abuse programs, to name a few.

It even has a resource room where women and children can pick out clothes and toys, giving them a sense of normalcy.

The volunteers there on Monday helped take a weight off the staff’s shoulders by doing things like wiping windows, cleaning up the yard and organizing.

“We have women and their children living here on our campus and not only are we looking to keep things cut back and looking great, we’re also wanting to make sure things are safe,” Kristi Glotzback, Family Ark’s Chief Operating Officer, said. “This helps because we can utilize our dollars for the direct services for our clients, because they’re taking care of things we would have to otherwise.”

“They have a huge impact on families around here, and just being able to help out, they’ve got 76 acres here, so it’s a lot of acres and we’re able to do little things to help out the place,” Tommy Neathamer, the Branch Manager at Everwise in New Albany added.
